26 Sep UA Signs Agreement to Empower Barangay Workers
University of the Assumption through the Community Extension Office enters into agreement with Innovative Training Works Incorporated and Rotary Club of Pampanga to jointly conduct training for barangay workers in the city of San Fernando.
The training will cover computer literacy and personality development. It aims to equip the beneficiaries with skills that will help them become more efficient in serving their respective communities.
According to Sister Marissa Figueroa of UA Community Extension Office, “We felt the need to empower them (barangay workers) with additional technical skills and capacity to deal with people.” She added that an assessment of needs will be done prior to the training.
“With regards to this outreach program, I think it is important that they (barangay workers) should realize that this is a training on 21 st century skills,“ said Mr. Felix Christopher Alegre III of Innovative Training Works. He added that when the idea was brought up to him, he was very happy to take part in it and do it with the University of the Assumption.
Also present during the signing were Father Joselito Henson, University President; Mrs. Consolacion Miclat, Rotary Club of Pampanga President; Dr. Mediatriz D. Martin, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Joey Suba, Dean of the College of Computing, Library and Information Science, and Mr. Ruben Lingat, Dean of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management.
