16 Sep UA Holds Spoken Poetry Workshop
In celebration of National Literacy Month, University of the Assumption held a Spoken Word Poetry Workshop on September 6. Featured artist and lecturer was Mr. Jonel Revistual from Words Anonymous.
Revistual explained that spoken word poetry is “a form of art which frees you to express your thoughts.”After discussing the basics of writing and performing poetry, he encouraged the participants to write their own piece and perform it during the workshop.
Revistual is a writer-director under 4:13 Productions, an independent production he establish along with his friend. He also works as a copywriter in an advertising agency.
The participants who were mostly students from UA and Pampanga High School were treated to a live performance of “Isang Magsasaka, Dalawang Panginoon” which he staged first on the anniversary of Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA).The said piece garnered almost 2 million views on social media with positive feedbacks from viewers.
The workshop was held at the Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz Lecture Hall inside the Cinense Library.
