UA Grade School Elects New Children’s Council Officers

University of the Assumption Grade School pupils have elected their new set of Children’s Council Officers for the next academic year through a manual election held on February 6, 2018.

Student leaders belonging to three (3) parties vied for the most coveted positions in council. The parties were the ALAS (Aspiring Leaders Arising in Service), FIRE (Faithful Individuals Reaching Excellence) and LIKE (Leaders in Knowledge and Excellence).

ALAS party dominated the election through a landslide victory. The newly elected officers are:

President: Paul James Santos (Grade 5- Generosity)

Vice-President: JurielCamaya (Grade 5 – Generosity)

Secretary: Cyenne Pagcu (Grade 5 – Generosity)

Treasurer: Maja Luisa Henson (Grade 5- Generosity)

Auditor: Alloysius Jan Navarro (Grade 4 – Prudence)

PRO: Daniella Mae Eklund (Grade 5 – Cooperation)

According to Ms. Ruth Intal, UAGS student activity coordinator, having a children’s council election teaches the pupils a sense of responsibility and the value of good decision-making.

“They plan their activities. During the start of the year, we have a team building and leadership training where they are trained. They think of the activities and projects that they can provide for the whole student body,” said Intal.

Prior to the election day, the parties were given time to campaign and hold a miting de avance where they presented their platforms.
