
19 Jan UA Arises to Greater Heights for 55th Founding Anniversary
University of the Assumption commemorated its 55 th founding anniversary with the theme “Onward to Greater Heights: Moving Farther, Holding on to Each Other with Mary Our Guide, Our Mother” on January 11-12, 2017.
In his message, Father Joselito C. Henson, University president, reminded the whole Assumption community to reflect upon the essence of the of the founding anniversary. “Like what we do as we welcome the New Year, our foundation day is a time to look at the past and give thanks to all that has been. It is also a time to look to the future and gather our hopes,” said Henson.
The foundation days, filled with events and activities, opened with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by San Fernando Archbishop Florentino Lavarias. It was then followed by a series of talent competitions and games participated by students which included a fun-run, hiphop contest, inter-school singing competition, Laro ng Lahi, a car show, E-sports, photography tilt, and theater-musical competition presented by the UA grade school pupils.
On day two, more activities were set to engage the students, staff, and guests in the celebration including a pet show, culinary contest, battle of the bands, cultural concert and more.
Aside from the events, the whole UA community also enjoyed the amusement rides, booths and exhibits arranged at the St. Thomas Aquinas courtyard and open field.
One of the highlights of the anniversary was the coronation for Mr. and Ms. University of the Assumption Models of Excellence 2018 where AJ Morris Garcia, Business Administration student; and Kirk Quezada, Senior High School student, were hailed as winners.

Also, UA students and visitors partied with various local bands such as Callalily, Gracenote, Never the Strangers, Kwaderno, Aios, More than Linda, and Better Days during the students’ night.
The two-day celebration of the 55 th founding anniversary was made possible through the efforts of the University of the Assumption Central Student Council along with the various Recognized Student Organizations of the University.
