22 Feb UA CCSIT Students Are 1st Runner-Up in Programming Tilt
Tristan Buan and John Gabriel Urbano bagged the 1 st runner-up prize during the Hackathon Web Programming Competition held at Wesleyan University Philippines on February 3, 2017. Buan and Urbano are fourth year students of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology in the University of the Assumption.
According to Dr. Joey Suba, dean of the College of Computing Sciences and Information Technology (CCSIT), the competition is a good arena to train and expose the students’ capabilities in programming and web developing. “We want to make them more adept especially in dynamic web developing so that they are better prepared for work after their graduation,” he said.
The competition, organized by the Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators, was part of the International Research Conference on Information Technology Education (RCITE) 2017. It was attended by students and teachers from twenty five (25) schools and industry practitioners from various parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the following research papers by CCSIT students were also accepted for research poster presentations:
- “SoilMos: A Soil Moisture Monitoring System with SMS Update and Triggered Watering Device for Gardens” by Neca Rose Valdez, Allan Joshua Bulaon, Kelvin Gomez and Maribeth Rivera
- “Kultura: An Educational, PC-Based 3D Role Playing Game for Enhancing Problem Solving and Strategy with respect to Filipino History and Values” by: _________ Oronce, Maribeth Rivera and Marren Christian Valencia
- “OMetrics: An Online Data Analytics System with Predictive Capability for à La Crème Cafe Bistro Cakeshop” by Ivan Gonzales, Eugine Pineda, Karl Renzo Sagum, John Gabriel Urbano and Maribeth Rivera
