22 Feb UA Athletes Reap Medals in CLRAA 2017
Mark Eledir David obtained the gold medal in the secondary level Taekwondo boys category during the CLRAA Meet 2017 at Malolos Bulacan.
A total of 23 medals – 3 gold, 4 silver and 16 bronze – were brought home by the athletes of the University of the Assumption in the recently held Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association Meet (CLRAA) at the City of Malolos, Bulacan on February 5-10, 2017.
Athletes who competed in different events came from Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Pampanga, Tarlac, Angeles, Balanga, Cabanatuan, Gapan, Mabalacat, Malolos, Meycauayan, Munoz, Olongapo, San Fernando, San Jose, San Jose del Monte, and Tarlac.
Representing the City of San Fernando, the UA athletes ruled in taekwondo. Rommel James de Dios Jr., Angelo Gabriel David and Mark Eledir David of the UA Junior High School finished with gold medals while John Kobbie Perez of the UA Senior High School was a silver medalist.
In the Taekwondo Girls division, Yshianna Daphne Punzalan, Natasha Baquiano, and Ma. Melisa Devero bagged the silver medals. Punzalan also brought home a bronze medal in the same event.

According to Mr. Ulysses Rengel, UAJHS Student Activity and Sports Coordinator, UA players receive intensive trainings from people who are adept to and practitioners of their particular sports. “They receive a higher level of training, therefore they give a higher level of competitiveness”, he said.
Gold medalists in CLRAA Meet will be advancing to the Palarong Pambansa to be held in Antique where they will compete against representatives from the different regions in the country.
