UA Grade School Pupils Dominate Pagdiriwang 2017

University of the Assumption Grade School was once again declared as Overall Champion in Pagdiriwang 2017, an annual interschool event hosted by Chevalier School during their foundation celebration.

This year’s competition, which covered academic and skills contests, was participated by 14 private and public schools in Angeles City, City of San Fernando and nearby towns.

UAGS pupils won in four (4) of the six (6) events they participated which entitled them again to the most coveted top prize. “UAGS has been the overall champion for three consecutive years,” declares the UAGS Student Activity Coordinator Ms. Ruth Intal.

16195521_1303597006350730_252634576492712367_nIn the Bible Quiz, Jheiney Manalo (Grade 6 – Patriotism), Sophia Quiambao (Grade 5 – Generosity) and Faith Sebolino (Grade 4 – Prudence) emerged as champion. According to Ms. Intal, UAGS has been undefeated in this event, a proof of the commitment of UA to equip its pupils with knowledge on matters necessary for their holistic growth. Mrs. Anna Manalastas was their teacher-coach.

The team was composed of Jheiney Manalo, Radha Nacpil, Patrixia Munoz, Emmanuel Langdet and Michael Odsinada. The academic quiz challenged the students in the following fields: Math, Science, English, Filipino, Philippine History and General Information. They were assisted by their teachers Mrs. Amira Maniacup, Mr. Lauro Musni, Mr. Edwin Mejia, Ms. Roselyn Cruz and Mrs. Jonalyn Dizon

16266274_1303597036350727_6951814249116267895_nAnother Grade 6 Patriotism pupil, Gisel Garcia, won the 2 nd Runner Up in the declamation competition for her powerful and eloquent rendering of “Promise Land”. She was trained by teachers Mrs. Maybelien Maglanque and Mrs. Estrell Mateo.

16142555_1303597106350720_7392837741171597407_nMeanwhile, Liandre Lumba and Deric Elagio, both from Grade 6 Patriotism class, were declared champion for their beautifully designed tshirts in the T-shirt Painting Competition. They were assisted by their Arts teacher, Mr. Rommer Lumba.

Miguel Enzo Conel (SK-Respect) and Hannah Gabrielle Petel (Grade 5- Generosity) also competed in the Poetry Interpretation and Solo Singing Contest, respectively. Mrs. Jennifer Gatbonton and Ms. Darlyn Alonzo were their trainors.

Ms. Jennifer Gonzales, UAGS principal, expressed that though the pupils have only limited time to train, they were still able to win the overall title because they are inspired by their teachers. “We try to tell them to do their best, and that it’s not really about the winning. Rather, it’s more of gaining friends, the patience and teamwork being instilled to them. Above all, the glory that they give to God after winning.”

UAGS, which was given recently its Level III accreditation status by the Philippine Association of Accrediting Schools, Colleges and Universities and the Federation of Accrediting Associations of the Philippines, have proven year after year their commitment, work ethic, and passion for excellence.
