18 Nov UA CHRM Bested Competitors in Cook Off
The University of the Assumption College of Hotel and Restaurant Management (CHRM) brought home the bacon during the “Big Bite: The Northern Food Festival 2016” culinary contest held at Marquee Mall, Angeles City on November 11-13. The event aimed to promote the various flavors of Northern Philippines while showcasing the culinary skills of the contestants.
UA-CHRM representatives were Lucia Villar, Pamela Pangan, Richard Lance Pituc, and Patrick Garret Tayag with their coaches Ms. Jovie Bondoc and Chef Fatima Garcia.
According to Chef Garcia, the hardwork and sleepless nights of the students in preparing for the cook-off really paid off in the end for they were able to emerge as winners even though it was their first time to join.
During the competition, culinary challenges were presented including incorporating in the dishes the mystery ingredients composed of chocolate, coffee, salted egg, tamarind, and turmeric which were revealed only before the preparation of the dishes.
