UASHS Students Gather for First Sports Fest

University of the Assumption Senior High School (UASHS) gathered to celebrate and compete in different athletic events and sports during their first sports festival held on October 12-14, 2016.

Organized by the UASHS Supreme Student Council, the theme of the event was “ISANLAKAS: Building Camaraderie and Fostering Unity with Fires in Our Hearts”.

UASHS students from different strands formed the four (4) competing teams identified as Red Oxen, White Eagles, Blue Angels, and Yellow Lions as they tried besting each other in team sports and individual games. UASHS also held an aerobic exercise session participated by the faculty members and students.

Dr. Violy Santos, UASHS principal, explained that the whole activity is helpful for students to alleviate their stresses from academics which is vital to their growth. “I could see that they enjoyed (the sports fest), and I think they needed it,” she added.

Santos also commended the UASHS Supreme Student Council for a job well-done in organizing the sports festival. “Their sense of responsibility is there…What we have now is not something perfect but what they have accomplished so far, exceeded our expectation,” she said.

In the end, the Red Oxen emerged as the Overall Champion. The Yellow Lions and White Eagles bagged the first and second runner-up awards respectively, while the Blue Angels were declared as the third runner-up.
