In line with the celebration of tourism month, University of the Assumption College of TourismManagement (CTM) held the Annual Domestic and International Exhibit and Skills Competition at the UA gymnasium on September 30, 2016.
Colorful booths, fun activities and performances were organized by the CTM students featuring the cultures and festivals of various regions in the Philippines and around the world.
One of the objectives of the exhibit is to partake in the celebration of World Tourism Day as a global observance to highlight the importance of the industry.
Ms. Aliah Amor Uy, Program Chairperson of CTM explained that they wanted to make the UA community be aware that tourism is not only about travelling, but also knowing about the culture of other provinces. “And, of course, we want to promote travelling in the Philippines because it would generate income for the government,” she said.
According also to Uy, the event served as an encouragement to the students in sharing their knowledge about the field and to showcase their skills and creativity.
Included in the celebrationwere the tourism skills competitions, quiz bee, tour guiding, and search for Mr. and Ms. Ecotourism.
Representatives from different colleges were also invited to join the scenic photography contest. The exhibit was done in collaboration with the League of Tourism Students-UA chapter.
