UA CON, ASF and ABC Global Health Care Extend Medical and Dental Aid to Indigents and Aetas

UA College of Nursing once again engaged its students and faculty in the development of Catholic leaders through medical missions in poor communities in Pampanga.

For four (4) days, the Nursing Student Council (NSC) and the UA chapters of the Citizens Drug Watch (CDW) and the College Red Cross Youth Council (CRCYC) together with the Archdiocese of San Fernando and the ABC Global Health Care provided medical and dental assistance in different areas.

Students and clinical instructors assisted the doctors led by Dr. Julieta Gamboa who organized the mobile clinic.

The first stop of the mobile clinic was at the Arzobispado de San Fernando in San Jose, City of San Fernando. The second stop was in Margot, Angeles City and third, at Nabuklod in Floridablanca.

According to the students, they learned a lot from the experience especially on matters of handling patients in economically disadvantaged situations. “It is these experiences of dealing with exceptionally hard circumstances that we learn and grow,” said one of the student nurses.

Another student said that she understand all the more now their motto in CON that “Nursing is not just a profession but a way of life”.

Almost 500 families, including Aetas, were given dental and medical care. Medicines were also distributed.

The University of the Assumption and CON extend their warmest gratitute to the Archdiocese of San Fernando and ABC Global Health Care for making the outreach activity a reality and a success.
