06 Apr UA-CHRM Students Engaged in Flavors of the Philippines 2016
Eight students from the University of the Assumption took part in the making of the Giant Bringhe in the country as a part of the event, Flavors of the Philippines 2016, last April 1, 2016 at Skyranch, SM City Pampanga. It was lead by two notable Kapampangan chefs, Chef Claude Tayag and Chef Lilian Borromeo.
Together with some students from the Angeles University Foundation and St. Nicholas College, the student chefs prepared a Giant Bringhe in a 12-foot diameter pan as early as 9:00 in the morning. The event started at 5:00pm and the said “Giant Bringhe” fed about 1200 visitors and mall-goers.
Bringhe or Arroz Valenciana is said to be the Kapampangan version of the Spanish Paella. The dish is known to be the only savory “kalamay” and was originated in the northern part of the Philippines.
The said event was featured in national television programs such as Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and TV Patrol. The student volunteers from the University of the Assumption are the following:
