22 Feb CpE Students Rank Second in Regional Quiz and Sports Competition
UA bagged the second place in the quiz bee and in three different games in the CpE Challenge and CpE Olympics held on February 16, 2016.
The UA team who competed in the quiz bowl was composed of CpE students Darwin V. Dizon and David Gabriel M. Paquinto who are on their 4th year and 3rd year respectively. The two were assisted by their coach Engr. Marvin O. Mallari as they hurdled against the representatives of the different higher education institutions in the region.
In the sports competitions, Karisa Mae Dalisay (CpE 4A) brought home the silver medal in the badminton for women while the men’s basketball team and the mixed volleyball team ranked second in their respective events.
According to Engr. Mallari, the volleyball team, led by their coach Engr. Kristine P. Estrada, almost made it to the top prize.
“It was just a matter of timing and some luck.”
John Eiron Hernandez (CpE 5A) and Christ Anthony Mandap (CpE 1A) were named to the Mythical Five for basketball while Jean Edrian Soriano (CpE 2A), Russell M. Maglalang (CpE 2A) and Patrick Miguel Bisda (CpE 1A) were included in the Mythical Six in the mixed volleyball.
The event was organized by the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Region III (ICpEP R3) and the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines – Student Edition Region III (ICpEP.se R3).
