On December 8, 2015, Friday, the Jubilee Year was launched in the four (4) Holy Masses for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary held in the University.

Themed “Merciful Like the Father,” the Holy Year finds its inspiration from a verse in the gospel of Luke,

“Be merciful, just as the Father is merciful” (6:36).

Pope Francis hopes that the whole Church will find the “joy of rediscovering and rendering fruitful God’s mercy” during the Jubilee, especially through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

“God forgives all, and God forgives always. Let us never tire of asking forgiveness,”

said Pope Francis as he announced the extraordinary jubilee in March 2015.

During the Holy Year, the UA Campus Ministry Office (CMO) will actively promote the Sacrament of Reconciliation to the UA community. It released on November 27, 2015, the schedule of confession for the current school year to provide opportunities to all Catholic students and employees to receive the mercy of God in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

According to the CMO Directress Sr. Marissa Figueroa, OP, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed in the University Chapel every Friday from 2:00PM to 3:00PM “for those who would like to have an intimate encounter with the Lord”. Mercy will also be the theme in all retreats and recollections for students and employees.

The celebration of the Holy Year will conclude on Sunday, 20 November 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe.
